Event Location: HOLLAND HEIGHTS GOLF COURSE, STEUBEN ROAD, HERKIMER
Event Details: Friday, May 10th was a big night for The Herkimer County Humane Society. Holland Heights was the setting for our 100th Birthday Gala Celebration. This event was many months of planning, and our community did not disappoint. A total of 110 people joined us for this milestone and a great time was had by all. The evening started with cocktail hour and then our MC for the night, Steve McMurray, Station Manager and New Director of WKTV took over. A special presentation prepared by Lyn Cipriano, Vice-President of the shelter was shown. This presentation showed the shelter through the years, from our humble beginnings to where we are today. It highlighted our events, including The Mutt Strut, Scotty’s Ride and much more. A tear or two was shed when some of our former “residents” were shown and for some who are no longer with us. Our silent auction was also a great success and a huge Thank You goes out to all our donators and sponsors. The raffle of the television, Kindle and an overnight stay in Old Forge was a huge success and the winners were all delighted! Our friends, Alesia and Anthony Forlenza provided all the wine for the tables during dinner as well.

We are so happy so many members of our community came to celebrate with us. A HUGE Thank You goes to Holland Heights for their hospitality as well. The setting was beautiful, and the food fantastic . Majestic Profession DJ Services of Whitesboro did a great job of keeping the party moving. Quinn Printing, a HUGE supporter of the shelter did a wonderful job on our programs that each attendee received as well as our centennial limited edition wine glass. Caruso’s Pastry Shoppe, Utica did an awesome job on the desserts - they were a huge hit! Thank You to the committee who worked so diligently on this event. It took many meetings, phone calls and going door to door to make this event the success it was. A total of $3,600.00 was made, with all proceeds going to the care of the animals housed at the shelter. We hope the next 100 years are as successful as the past.
